Curtains

So while my mother was here, we decided to make a set of curtains for my odd windows in the guestroom. We went to Hancock, Hobby Lobby and a local store in Rapid City called Fabric City. I settled on a fabric of a beautiful cream base with brown flowers for about $35. I got it home and ready to be cut and found out I was short by a little bit so I had to put that one aside for something else. So our adventure took us back to Hobby Lobby where I found this awesome baby blue base with cream and white leaves and branches. Oh and I forgot to mention...I got that bed for free! This was definitely a great find.

Here's a before picture.

I don't have a pattern as my mother has been making curtains for years. But we ended up making two curtains in about 2 hours. I was ironing everything while my mother sewed the curtains (she's awesome at sewing in straight lines!!!)

I know they look like they have Christmas trees, but it's branches and leaves!

So it's a start to my guestroom makeover.

Visit from mom and dad

So my parents live in Rockledge, Florida, in the same house I was born and raised in. Never in a million years did they think they would end up making a trip to Rapid City, South Dakota. They came out at the beginning of June, before I could even touch my house. They were here for 2 weeks. Let me just say, I had SO much fun play tourist and seeing the sights around South Dakota. Here's some pictures from those 2 weeks!
Mom and dad at Prairie Berry Winery in Hill City, SD
Eric, me, dad and mom in front of Pactola Lake
My mom and I in front of what was the most breathtaking view ever in the Black Hills

Just some updates

Just a couple of updates around the house...I picked this amazing window up at my favorite antique store for $15!!! It looks perfect next to my corner shelf...which if you look closely is actually a door cut in half and made like that!

My sister-in-law got us this legacy sign for Christmas of 2010. It fits perfectly on the wall of the dining area. It also come with a station slate that says Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. I have to find some islet screws so I can hang it from our sign. This is where you can get one just like mine!

Theater Room!!

So I can honestly say, this is my husbands favorite room. Eric LOVES his theater room. Here are some makeover pictures as well as the finished product!
So as you can see, we were trying out some paint colors. You can also barely see a door to the right of the TV...this used to be a garage and that door was just left there to go outside

We had to add the curtains to block out some of the light (aww little baby Gunner!)

This is where the door was...This is Brice, my husbands BFF
Finished product!
Looks amazing! There is Brice enjoying it and my BFF Lexi posing?

Kitchen update!

So I first want to show you what my kitchen looked like when before we moved in.

Keep in mind this was before we moved in, so the previous tenant was still living here.

Now, the WHOLE house had white walls. This drove me crazy. I had to change something. I knew what colors I wanted where, it was just the little thing you need to buy paint...money! One day I got bored and decided to run to Lowe's and get some paint. I had the kitchen and dining area painted by the time Eric came home that same day. This was one of the first things I did after we moved in.

You'll have to excuse the mess on the dining room table. You see that corner shelf on the right? I picked that puppy up for $40 at my favorite antique shop!
I absolutely fell in LOVE with this color. It's Brisk Olive from Valspar. I've always wanted a green kitchen, so here it is!
