It actually looks pretty natural. I've read in different places that you can sand the end grains with a finer grit to make it not appear so dark after you stain it. I've done this with all of my wood projects and it's worked out. Let me know what you end up doing and good luck!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17114796637977015825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867444283145922086.post-76832994235392493472013-01-01T12:43:18.287-07:002013-01-01T12:43:18.287-07:00Hi there - Your headboard looks aweseome! Our bedroom leaves the side of the bed (and therefor the end of the 2x4) facing the door, so it will be face-on when entering the room & I'd like it to look as tidy as possible. I printed a draft on a normal piece so I could judge how big or small to cut my wax paper. By taping the wax paper to the printer paper, my printer didn't eat it. It glided smoothly.

Depending on how your printer works, I don't believe it's necessary. Test it out and experiment.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17114796637977015825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867444283145922086.post-55576445751776215192012-12-12T06:35:43.936-07:002012-12-12T06:35:43.936-07:00These look great, and I'm planning to try them...These look great, and I'm planning to try them out for Christmas gifts! One question, what do you mean you "taped" the side of the waxed paper that went into the printer? Which side did you tape, and for what reason? Is it necessary?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867444283145922086.post-63751650849098940642012-10-04T12:50:30.700-06:002012-10-04T12:50:30.700-06:00Love it!Love it!Anna-Mayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13476109331774338560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867444283145922086.post-30452086509686100792012-09-17T16:11:46.418-06:002012-09-17T16:11:46.418-06:00I love your blog. Quick and easy, but saves a lot of hassle.
